Chris Welbon started his martial arts training at
age 8. Mr. Welbon has had the opportunity to train in many
different styles of martial arts, and has earned a 1st degree
black belt in Tae Kwon-Do, as well as a 3rd degree black belt
in Shotokan karate. He began teaching martial arts for his
sensei, Mark Pinner, at age 16, and has continued to this
present day. Mr. Welbon is a proud member of the Christian
Karate Association and has won many state and national titles
as a member of the AAU National Karate Team. He is an ACEP
certified coach, a nationally ranked referee and has over
20 years of experience in martial arts training. |

Mr. Mike Booher has lived in Plant City since 1998
and is a native Floridian who was born in Clearwater and
grew up in Tampa. Mr. Mike is a 1985 graduate of the University
of South Florida with a degree in accounting and currently
works for Publix Super Markets, Inc. in Lakeland, Florida
in their corporate finance area. Mr. Mike is an active member
of St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Plant City and is also
a member of the Board of Trustees for St. Joseph's - Baptist
Health Care representing South Florida Baptist Hospital.
Mr. Mike began his martial arts training in 1993 under
Chris Welbon’s Sensei, Mark Pinner. He took a hiatus
of several years to participate in the various activities
of his children such as band, baseball and scouting. Mr.
Mike returned to training in 2002 under Sensei Chris Welbon.
For Mr. Mike karate is a family affair. For Mr. Mike karate is a family affair. His twin daughters Amy and Laura are black belts also studying under Sensei Welbon. |

Mr. Raymond started his karate training at the age of 4 through an afterschool program similar to the one he today teaches. He has continued training through the years until the end of his senior year of high school, when he took some time off for college where he received a degree in Health Care Management and Radiology. He returned to Sensei Chris Welbon to further his training and for the chance to teach as an assistant instructor. He has participated in many state and national AAU Karate competitions, walking away with numerous gold and silver medals. Mr. Raymond states “I find that when I walk into Sensei Chris Welbon’s Karate School and the family of students, I can count on a friendly smile and a positive aura of attitudes that is unlike any that I’ve experienced before.” “I take pride in knowing I’m a part of a different kind of family, and think it is a privilege to put my time into something that gives back more than one could expect to have.” |

Mr. Izzy Camacho has lived in Plant City since 1989. He was born in New York City and spent his teenage years in Union City, New Jersey.
Mr. Izzy is a 1983 graduate of Rutgers University located in New Jersey with a degree in Computer Science and currently works for Hewlett Packard Corp. as software engineer. Mr. Izzy is an active participant in the various activities of his wife and three children including church, school projects, band, roller-blading and biking.
Mr. Izzy began his martial arts training in 1980 during his stay at Rutgers studying Tae Kwon-Do and achieved a middle rank. He took a hiatus of many years to pursue his career and build a family.
He then began studying under Sensei Chris Welbon in 2004 as a family activity with his son and daughter. However, for Mr. Izzy, Karate is not just another activity, it's a way of life. Few things in life afford you the ability to challenge your mind, body and spirit as does the marital arts. |
